Electrical Solutions for Transport & Logistics

LV panels for distribution depots, cold-chain refrigeration switchgear, EV charging infrastructure, and forecourt-rated panels for fueling and logistics operations.

Electrical Infrastructure for Transport & Logistics

Transport and logistics operators — from regional distribution centres to bulk fuel terminals, cold-chain depots, and last-mile EV fleets — operate at sites where electrical reliability directly affects throughput and inventory loss. Panel Tech Systems builds the LV switchgear, refrigeration MCCs, EV charging panels, and forecourt-rated cabinets that keep East Africa's logistics arteries running.

Switchgear We Deliver for Logistics Operations

  • Distribution depot main switchboards — 800 A to 2500 A, sized for forklift charging, dock loading, warehouse lighting, refrigeration, and office loads. Form 4 segregation for sites that operate 24/7
  • Cold-chain refrigeration MCCs — duplex compressor staging, defrost-cycle control, condenser fan VFDs for energy savings, BMS integration for temperature tracking and audit trail
  • EV charging infrastructure — AC and DC fast-charger feeds, load management at the panel level, integration with payment platforms for fleet billing
  • Forecourt fuel terminal panels — IP65 with hazardous-area glanding for dispenser feeds, ESD logic for emergency shut-down, integration with tank-gauge instrumentation
  • Generator paralleling panels for sites where utility supply is unreliable or where service continuity protects high-value inventory
  • Solar-hybrid panels for sites with available roof area — daytime grid-displacement on warehouses

Designed for Logistics Operating Constraints

  • Phased installation coordinated with throughput peaks (e.g., weekend installations to avoid weekday loading-bay downtime)
  • Hardened outdoor cabinets — IP65 stainless steel where forklift impact is a risk, with bollard protection on cabinets in active traffic zones
  • Tenant sub-metering for multi-occupant warehouses with different operators sharing one site
  • Energy reporting tied to throughput (kWh per pallet, kWh per fuel truck) for KPI tracking and tenant invoicing
  • SCADA visibility for facilities management with multi-site dashboards across distribution networks

Project Experience

From single-warehouse logistics operations to multi-site distribution networks and downstream fuel terminals, our panels deliver the electrical infrastructure that throughput-critical logistics depends on. ATEX zoning where required, EPRA / KEBS compliance as standard.

Frequently Asked Questions — Transport & Logistics

EV fast-chargers (50 kW and above) draw substantial inrush at start. We use motor-rated breakers or specifically-rated DC fast-charger breakers, size feeder cables for the diversity-adjusted continuous load, and where multiple chargers are on one site we implement load-management logic that staggers their start and limits simultaneous draw to avoid demand-charge spikes.
Beyond standard overload and short-circuit protection, cold-chain MCCs include phase-loss detection (a phase loss kills the compressor), oil-pressure interlocks where the compressor design requires it, anti-short-cycle timers, and temperature-feedback alarms tied to the BMS. Loss of cooling can damage compressor windings within minutes, so the protection has to be fast.
Yes. We meter each refrigeration zone, lighting circuit, and forklift charging bay separately, and expose energy consumption over Modbus or BACnet. Tying this to your operations dashboard (kWh per pallet moved, kWh per truck dispatched) is a configuration step at the facilities-management layer rather than at the panel.
Yes. We deliver IP65 stainless steel cabinets with hazardous-area glanding for the dispenser side, ATEX-rated cable entries where required, ESD logic tied to the cause-and-effect matrix, and a marshalling section for the intrinsically safe loops from tank gauges and overfill sensors. Documentation includes hazardous area classification drawings as part of the EPRA submittal.
Standard depot main switchboards (800 A to 2500 A) ship in 4–8 weeks from order confirmation. We typically install temporary feeds and transfer load circuit by circuit over a series of weekend shutdowns to avoid impacting weekday throughput. Full commissioning including FAT, SAT, operator training, and as-built documentation completes in the week following final transfer.
